The USS General Taylor was a transport ship that operated during WWII. She was retired in 1983 and sunk as an artificial reef in May of 2009. In fact, a group of banks and financiers right here in Key West bought the USS General Taylor and it was docked for a time at the East Quay Pier of the Key West Harbor. As a sunken ship, she is the largest artificial reef in the world, next to the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany.
