An actual case of documented piracy and buried treasure occurred in 1720 involving British Captain Stratton of Prince Eugene! Captain Stratton traded rum with pirates in the Caribbean and buried his gold near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay! Unfortunately for Stratton, one of his crew– Morgan Miles –turned him over to the British authorities, and the gold was recovered and put into the coffers of the British government.
Do you think this made Captain Stratton a pirate?
